Every 24 hours our subconscious receives millions of subliminal messages that influence our behavior. These messages tell us to fit the norm, be average, stay in our predetermined role, and chase after things that don’t fulfill us.
We live in fear of being ourselves because, we’re told on the other side of being who we are is retaliation, selfishness, violence, poverty, sickness, ridicule, and isolation. Fortunately, all the talk and subliminal messages are just a tall tales that make you a prisoner of your fears. Think about all time you spend:
- Trying to be someone else’s standard of femininity or masculinity. How do you feel? Was the journey fun? Do you feel empty when you “achieve” it?
- Trying to fit in so you can feel accepted.
- Masking your identity.
It’s exhausting, and to tell the truth you are the one giving them the power. Their opinions don’t matter because, majority are based off of superficial criteria. You can’t be something that is not true to your heart so don’t waste even a second trying. The best version of you is the real you. Once you find yourself you will attract all you ever wanted.
There are millions around the world and thousands in your own community just like you. They are waiting for the day where they will find the courage to be themselves. All they need is a shinning star, like you, to change the narrative and light the way. Along your journey you will receive negative energy from individuals. However, your must stand your ground. Their negative energy is for them to carry not you.
For example, if you identify as a male but wear certain items out of the women’s clothing section and someone says “you can’t wear that”, “why are you wearing that, you look flamboyant”, or “You look like a sissy” the next words from your mouth are easy. Simply smile and say “I wear it because it makes me happy”.
The hard work comes from within. Write down the fears that arise when you think of being yourself. Decide how you will conquer your fears. Then practice conquering them. Revise, reflect, and repeat. In the end you will realize people self project their own feelings, insecurities, fears, and regrets onto people and situations. Being your true self and living for you will allow you to be truly happy.
